There are different types of game hunting and different seasons for each one. The type of game that can be hunted, and its appropriate season where depend on the area you want to hunt in or where you live. Depending on what you are looking for, there is big game hunting and small game hunting. Big game hunting includes hunting such things as bear, deer, wild goat, wild sheep, elk and moose. If you wanted to hunt really big game like rhinos, elephants and lions you would have to go somewhere like Africa.
Small game hunting would include animals like rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, and possum. Some states include their fowl in the small game category. Such things as Wild turkey, geese, duck, and Pheasant belong to this category. Some states separate big game, small game, fowl and fish into four different categories.
There are different kinds of weapons that are used for hunting. Specific types of rifles, guns and bows can be used for large and small game hunting. In some areas spears are allowed also. Smaller guns and bows are usually used for the small game, while the larger rifles and guns are used for bigger game. In some states you can use dogs to help you track down the game you are hunting and corner it, making it easier to bring the game down. Licenses are required in each state for hunting, and each hunting season is designated. Check with your state before hunting for all the necessary licenses and permits.
