Tips for Hunting Game

Whether you are out hunting big or small game, there are a few things to know before you go out that will help ensure a successful hunt.

No matter what you are hunting, you have to know when the season starts and ends and the time of day that you can hunt. You have to know how to get close enough to shoot at the game without being detected. If you are using a shot gun or rifle, you don’t have to be as close as you do when you are using a bow and arrow. This is a matter of being slow and very quiet. Another thing to remember is to try to stay down wind of the game so that way they will not smell you and run. Usually when hunting, the hunter will wear camouflage clothing to blend in with his/her surroundings. But in addition to camouflage, there are times when the hunter needs to add orange so that other hunters are aware of them.
When hunting small game such as rabbits, squirrels and ducks, you don’t really need a high powered gun as much as an accurate one. When choosing the gun, you want to keep in mind the cost of shells, its overall weight and the scope on the weapon.

When hunting for big game such as whitetail deer, bear and elk, you want a high powered gun with as much accuracy as possible. Know the area that you will be hunting. Go out before the season begins to get a better understanding of the routes that the game takes.
