Hunting in the Southwest

Many people do like to go out west to do hunting. Southwest Colorado is one of them. Most like to hunt elk, but eer is another that is popular in Colorado. The hunters that are able and willing to do walking should have good success. The ones that do drive do not have as much success as the ones that walk. Sometimes the weather does not corporate and that can be a big factor when hunting for deer or elk. When the weather is nice then you have a better chance of bringing in the big ones.

In southwest Kansas, duck is good hunting. They have mostly Mallards and Pentail. They also have others such as Widgeon, Shovler, and Redheads. The goose hunters usually average 0.6 geese per hunt. The weeks that are the most successful is December 8-14, which they can average 3.36 per hunt. Most hunters at regular duck season especially the opening week, average 3.3 ducks per hunt.

Arizona is the state in which you can get an elk trophy with a rifle or a bow. The best time to hunt elk is during the peak of rutting which is in September with bugling bulls responding to twenty yards on the average. The trophy hunt of a lifetime is with a rifle/muzzle loader. The bulls are still in the peak of the rut at that time. Most of the hunts are by vehicle into the area and then by foot.
