Bear Hunting

Bear hunting is a great sport and has become popular in the United States and Alaska. The average person feels that it is not right to hunt bear. It is established that the Black Bear will avoid humans. They stay away from them and for good reasons. The bear hunter is someone that naturally loves the outdoors and the excitement of the hunt. When black bears come out and have survived a long winter, they are hungry and fat. The decision has to be whether you want to harvest the bear for eating. Bear certainly is edible. It is a member of the swine family, so you must be careful and cook it thoroughly through.

If you use bear baiting, it must be legal. Using other animal carcasses is illegal because it can not be determined whether the carcass was the bait or if it was a road kill. It is necessary that the bait be placed further than one mile from a house for obvious reasons. Bears love to be in the woods and near a creek. They love to eat Beaver and they wait for a Beavers to possibly fall out of a trees. As big as they are, they are fast in the short run and can catch their prey easily. Also, if you bear bait, you must put up a sign letting others know what you are doing so they can stay away. Bears love to eat popcorn, candy, cookies and bread with lots of grease on it. Other treats include meat scraps which you can get from a butcher shop.
