Hunting is a sport for both men and women. In the past, hunting was usually thought of as a man's sport, but more and more women have become interested in this competitive sport and are becoming involved in hunting wild game.
There are different types of hunting, as well as different methods used in hunting. A large variety of animals can be hunted, depending upon your location and the time of year. When hunting deer, you can either use a gun, bow, or muzzleloader. Quail and pheasant are taken with a shotgun. When hunting elk, bear, bobcat, mountain lion, or big horn sheep, a rifle or bow is used. Quail, pheasant, and turkey are taken with a shotgun. Turkeys can also be hunted with a bow. Shotguns are either single or double barrel and use different gauges; the difference is in the kickback action after the gun is fired.
In hunting whitetail and mule deer, there are different methods used. A tree stand or hunting blind can be used to camouflage or conceal the hunter away from the prey. Different hunting tactics are also used, such as grunt tubes, deer attractants, and rattling of deer horns together, depending on the season of the hunt.
In hunting turkey, blinds can be set up, and different call methods are used, such as mouth calls, box calls, or slate calling. Decoys can also be set out and used in turkey hunting. The most important approach in hunting is to always be camouflaged or concealed away from the quarry.
