Hunting Seasons by Animal

Ducks, white-tailed deer and bears are favorites of many hunters. Hunting is truly an American perfected pastime, and there is always a time for hunting and pursuing one's favorite form of creature of the woods. Different animals can be hunted at different times of the year.

One can hunt white-tailed deer from September to February. The modes of hunting deer depends on one's favorite type of weapon, whether it be a bow, muzzleloading gun, or the good old fashioned hunting rifle. Certain weapons can only be used during certain portions of the season, so be careful to check up on the locla dates wherever you go deer hunting.

Wild turkey can be hunted in the fall months from October to November, and in the spring months from April to May. Open season on gray squirrels is from September to January. A person can hunt and bag a few ruffled grouse from October to February. Ducks, coons, and canvasbacks can be hunted from October to January. Pheasants, very tasty birds, can be hunted from November to January. The ever-nervous cottontail rabbit can be hunted from November to February.

Hunters who like to hunt animals that have no closed season can shoot wild boar. In some places, wild hog hunts are allowed by farmers who wish to get rid of the pests. If one feels inclined to hunt larger creatures like bears, the time between October and December is the season. As with deer, you will need to check what weapons can be used during the time of your hunt.
