Best Places To Hunt In Texas

The state of Texas is the second largest state in the United States, both in area and in population. It offers a very diverse landscape, from pine and oak forests to large flat prairies. These features make it great for hunting everything from whitetail deer to quail.

Several hunting options are made available through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). Depending on how long a person plans to hunt, they have several affordable permits available. Texas is also home to several hunting lodges and leases. Rough Creek in Glen Rose offers over 11,000 acres for hunting and fishing. They offer accommodations for hunters such as lodging and cuisine as well as hunting for deer, quail, chukar and pheasant. Orange Grove, Texas brags having one of the finest private hunting facilities in the country. It's set on 2,400 acres of land and offers deer breeding in addition to dove and quail hunting.

The hunting lodge in Seadrift, Texas offers a 6,000 acre private exotic game ranch with oryx, blackbucks, eland and axis deer. The 20,000 total acre lodge also offers fishing, boating, kayaking, hiking/biking trails, day spa and a beach club. Tajos Hunts is a hunting lease located in Port Mansfield, which offers a different kind of wildlife including deer, antelope, hogs, turkey, duck, geese and quail. It's located on 50,000 acres of land, but membership is restricted to 35 members.

The state of Texas has a lot of regulations regarding hunting. Hunters should contact the TPWD regarding regulations and permits before hunting.
