New England Holds Many Great Hunting Parks

New England offers many great hunting parks. In each state there are different regulations and hunting seasons, so be sure to know the laws of the state you wish to hunt in before going hunting there.

Maine divides its hunting areas into regions. Each region has something special to offer and different parks. Brownfield Bog Wildlife Management Area is good for deer and waterfowl. Steep Falls WMA also offers good deer hunting. Frye Mt. WMA is good for deer, game birds, and wild turkey. In the moose head region, hunters find white-tail deer, black bear, moose, and small game. Bud Leavitt WMA in the Penobscot River Region is a good place to hunt. This region has white tail deer, moose, black bear, upland game, and waterfowl.

Green Mountain National Forest is a great place to hunt in Vermont. Rochester WMA and Riley WMA are great hunting for deer in Vermont. The deer in Massachusetts are known for their health and long life, giving them the vitality to grow into large, strapping trophy deer. October Mountain State Forest is a good example of where to find these. Connecticut has excellent hunting but very complicated hunting laws. The Connecticut River Valley provides prime quality bucks.

Types of hunting also vary for different areas. Archery hunting is popular in this area of the country as well as muzzle loader hunting. Then there are some hunters who like the rifle and shotgun. Whenever you decide to go hunting be sure to check on hunting seasons and hunting laws regarding the type of hunting and the game. Archery may have a different season than a muzzle loader or rifle. Be sure to stay within the limits of the laws.
