Seasons for Deer Hunting

Deer seasons are at different times depending on the the state you are in. In Colorado, our first season is bow hunting. It goes for about a month and then about mid-season our muzzle loading season starts. In October, our rifle season starts and it goes through November, and then in December we have private land season. We also have what is called Indian season and it starts in January and goes for a long time.

Bow season depends on what you want to hunt for. If you are a meat hunter, the early part of the season is probably the time to hunt, as the game animals have not started rustling around much. Later in the season they begin to stir more and hunting them becomes more of a challenge. You will need to look more closely at where they are heading down. In late October, it becomes harder to hunt them as the weather is getting colder.

Muzzle season includes two types of guns both resembling the ones used by Davy Crocett and Daniel Boone. Their classifications are either in-line or primitive. The gun loads from the top of the barrel with black powder. Muzzle season is in between bow and regular rifle season. The hunter with a muzzle loader is accepting one of the most challenging seasons. It is a one-shot only chance with game animals.

Rifle season is one of the most popular. The season is one of the longer ones. There is actually three different seasons within rifle season. Most of them last about one week each and then the middle one goes just a little bit longer with the last one being only about five days. There are more deer during this time of year, though, so you shouldn't have a problem finding them.
