What Makes Hunting Difficult

One of the very first things a hunter learns is how to get a license. Some states require you to be 16 and accompanied by a parent. There are many rules and regulations that must be followed no matter your age and what you are hunting.

The weather plays a big part in how difficult hunting will be. For instance, without snow, it is hard to track the animal. Rain is another nasty element to hunt in. It makes the air feel colder and you feel miserable. Once you get wet, the possibility of hypothermia can increase, especially in colder climates. Rain washes away the animals' scent and tracks, making it hard for dogs to find your prey. If the weather is too warm, the hunter may suffer from heat stroke if not wearing the proper clothing and keeping hydrated. Hunters need to dress in layers so they can eliminate clothes as needed.

Another thing that makes hunting difficult is the terrain. Walking through thick marshes for duck hunting, or up and down steep inclines after moose and deer simply wears a body out. Many hunters are in good shape, but the extra clothing and equipment they need to carry adds more weight, making hunting more strenuous.

Finding the animal you are hunting can also be difficult. There are years where the animals have been scarce. One can walk through the fields and groves not seeing a thing. The hunter gets bored and quits, young kids have this problem, especially.

One of the biggest problems hunters today face is finding a place to go hunting. More and more land is being set aside for protecting the wildlife.
