Intelligent Hunting

A hunter should always be familiar with the area that is being hunted. He should have an awareness of routes used by the game being hunted. If a hunter needs a place to wait for game, he should choose carefully. A waiting spot should have both a view and shelter for the hunter. He should wear clothing that blends in with his waiting spot. The hunter should use an effective insect repellent that has little or no odor. The proper weapon should be selected with the ammunition required for whatever game is being hunted.

A hunter should always carefully select his shot. He should be sure of what he is shooting and that the visible game is the best shot available. Patience is a hunters best friend when waiting for that perfect shot. These rules can turn a hunting trip into a success.

When going hunting in areas that are far from other people, a hunter can be on his own and needs to prepare. There are various steps that are outlined in materials printed for hunters. One of the most important is a first aid kit. The kit should contain band-aids, swabs, water purifying tablets, matches in a water proof bag, a small knife, a Hot Sparks Kit, fishing line and hooks, and salt. There are other items that some hunters might want to carry. These emergency items should be carried in a light, water proof bag. The bag should also be able to double as a water container. Hunting in the wild can be a great experience, but it can also turn into a life and death ordeal. Being prepared is the best guarantee for survival.
